Description
The Monkey Island is in the Gatun lake. This “island” was created when the Gatún lake was formed to be the water supply of the Panama Canal turning several hills into islands isolating much of the local fauna into these new artificially made environments.
A certified guide will look for monkeys, alligators, caymans, and birds. Birdwatchers will love this tour as you can see up to 300 different birds species in this area.
But we are here for the monkeys! there are 3 types of monkeys in the island: howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys and titi monkeys (Geoffrey).
Capuchin monkeys and Titi monkeys are known to jump to the boats where you can feed them fruits or peanuts.
