Visit the Emberá Tribe Community and surrounding areas

  • Pick-up from any hotel in Panama City towards Corotú port in Lago Chagres.
  • Travel on a piragua boat for 15 minutes towards the Emberá Community.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to visit the waterfalls and bathe in the cold river waters.
  • Visit the Emberá Community Center where you’ll know more about their customs, dances, cooking, architecture, traditions and more.
  • View dances and join the crew.
  • Get a bodypaint artwork from local artisan with the traditional technique of Jagua painting.
  • See how traditional dishes are made and indulge yourself with fresh fruits from local produce, and lunch a fried tilapia and fried plantains on a banana leaf, a traditional leaf.
  • Tour the community and know more about their construction techniques and how sustainable and ethical they build their houses with minimal carbon footprint.
  • Enjoy the rest of the day with locals and return via piragua boat.

    Everything on time. Our guide was always ready and even helped me with spare shoes. The village is super clean and the Embera people are warm and friendly.
